Sultan presents, receives credentials

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday consented to present letters of credentials to two newly appointed envoys of Brunei to friendly nations and receive credentials from four new envoys to Brunei. The event took place at Istana Nurul Iman.

His Majesty presented credential letters to Dato Seri Setia Ustaz Dr Hj Mohd Amin, newly appointed Brunei High Commissioner to Malaysia and Dato Paduka Hj Harun, newly appointed Brunei Ambassador to the Republic of Korea.

His Majesty also consented to receive letters of credentials from four newly appointed foreign envoys to Brunei. They are Mr Emil M Skodon of the US, Mr Hwang Won-kun of the Republic of Korea, Mr U Tin Htun of the Union of Myanmar and Mr Ahmad bin Mohammed bin Zaher Al-Hinai of the Sultanate of Oman. His Majesty later granted audiences to the new envoys.

Meanwhile, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, also granted audiences at the Balai Penghadapan, Bukit Kayangan to the four newly appointed envoys. They are Mr Emil M Skodon, Mr Hwang Won-kun, Mr U Tin Htun and Mr Ahmad bin Mohammed bin Zaher Al-Hinai.

His Royal Highness welcomed the four envoys and discussed bilateral matters.

Prior to his appointment, Ambassador Emil M Skodon was the Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Rome, Italy.

Ambassador Hwang Won-kun was previously Minister at the Korean Embassy in Canada.

Ambassador U Tin Htun was previously Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Union of Myanmar to the Republic of the Philippines.

Ambassador Ahmad bin Mohammed bin Zaher Al-Hinai was previously Oman's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Federal Republic of Germany. - Borneo Bulletin (2nd November 2005)
