YAYASAN Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) last evening held a thanksgiving prayer ceremony to mark the 22nd anniversary of its establishment.

Present to grace the event held at the Multi-purpose Hall of the YSHHB Complex in the capital was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, the Chairman of the Committee of Governors of YSHHB.

The event commenced with the mass Maghrib prayer, followed by the mass recitation of the Surah Yaasiin led by Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Awang Haji Salim bin Besar.

The event continued with the recitation of the thanksgiving prayer and the mass Isyak prayer.

YSHHB was established with the consent of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty’s accession to the throne on October 5, 1992.

YSHHB was established as a charity platform by His Majesty and members of the royal family, as a way of demonstrating care and affection to the people and contributing to the harmonious and prosperous development of the community.

In its first decade of establishment, various projects and activities have been implemented and achieved, in line with its principles and mission that encompasses areas of religion, welfare, education, development and finance.

The foundation in its second decade of operation has intensified its efforts and took new initiatives in facing the constantly-changing and challenging demographic and socio-economic landscape.

“As it prepares to enter its third decade of operations, YSHHB will continuously plan and take the necessary proactive and innovative steps in increasing the success of its planning, projects and activities,” a statement said.

“YSHHB will continue to lend a hand to the people of Brunei Darussalam, in line with its vision of enhancing quality of life as well as achieving excellence in socio-cultural and socio-economic aspects. YSHHB will ensure that its assistance, services and projects are more organised, focused, and accurately targeting its beneficiaries in enhancing the welfare of the people,” the statement added.

Also present at the event were the Deputy Chairman II of the YSHHB Board of Governors, Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma Raja Dato Seri Utama Dr Ustaz Haji Awang Mohd Zain bin Haji Serudin, the Chairman of the YSHHB Board of Governors, Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, members of the board of governors and board of trustees of Dana Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans (DANA), staff members and teachers of YSHHB School. - Borneo Bulletin (9 October 2014)
