HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to send messages of condolences to Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, and Li Keqiang, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, following the recent earthquake that struck Yunnan Province.

In the message to President Xi Jinping, His Majesty expressed his deep regret at the considerable loss of lives and damage to property caused by the earthquake.

His Majesty stated that His Majesty’s Government and people of Brunei Darussalam joined His Majesty in expressing their deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the people and the Government of the People’s Republic of China, especially to the families affected by the earthquake.

His Majesty’s message to Premier Li Keqiang stated that His Majesty was deeply saddened to learn of the considerable loss of lives and destruction resulting from the earthquake and that His Majesty’s Government and the people of Brunei Darussalam expressed their deepest condolences to the people and the Government of the People’s Republic of China, especially the bereaved families of the victims of the earthquake. - Borneo Bulletin (5 August 2014)
