Royalty at Henry Park Primary School

HIS Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, who is currently on an official visit to Singapore, and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah, visited Henry Park Primary School yesterday.

Accompanying Their Royal Highnesses were His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Muntaqim and Her Royal Highness Princess Muneerah Madhul Bolkiah.

The arrival of Their Royal Highnesses at Henry Park Primary School was greeted by Heng Swee Keat, Minister for Education, Republic of Singapore. Upon arrival, Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah was presented with a bouquet of flowers. His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah then signed the visitor’s book.

Their Royal Highnesses then proceeded to a briefing room to listen to welcoming remarks by the Minister for Education of the Republic of Singapore, followed by a briefing on the school delivered by its principal Chia Soo Keng, and its vice-principal, Cheryl Tan. Shortly after the briefing, Their Royal Highnesses toured the school.

Henry Park Primary School started in 1977 with 14 teachers and 287 students. Currently, the number of students is close to 2,000. The school started the Gifted Education Programme in 1997. The school also provides various facilities, such as library, ampitheatre, gymnasium, computer lab and computer science. The school has received several awards such as School Distinction Award, Singapore Quality Class and Best Practice Award.

During the visit, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah received a pesambah in the form of a painting from Nur Nadya binti Muhamad Hermi, a student of the school. Their Royal Highnesses also presented gifts to a number of students of the school.

His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Muntaqim and Her Royal Highness Princess Muneerah Madhul Bolkiah also received a pesambah from the school. Later, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah presented a special gift to the principal.

At the end of the visit, Their Royal Highnesses joined in for a photo session.

Accompanying Their Royal Highnesses were Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, Minister of Development; Dato Paduka Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; Dato Paduka Awang Haji Bahrin bin Abdullah, Deputy Minister of Finance; and Haji Awang Saifulbahri bin Haji Awang Mansor, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of Singapore. - Borneo Bulletin (4 September 2014)
