Crown Prince attends afternoon tea with Singapore president

HIS Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah, had afternoon tea with Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam, President of Singapore, and his wife Mary Chee Bee Kiang yesterday.

Upon arrival at The Istana, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince signed a visitor’s book.

Their Royal Highnesses then proceeded to the East Drawing Room for a photo session with the president and his wife.

Their Royal Highnesses then proceeded to the Yusof Room for the afternoon tea with Dr Tan and his wife.

Accompanying Their Royal Highnesses were Dr Mohamad Maliki bin Osman, Minister of State at the Ministry of National Development and Ministry of Defence, and Mayor of the South East District, as the Minister-in-Attendance, and spouse, Sadiah binti Shahal.

Also accompanying Their Royal Highnesses were Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, Minister of Development; Dato Paduka Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; and Dato Paduka Awang Haji Bahrin bin Abdullah, Deputy Minister of Finance.

Their Royal Highnesses departed Brunei Darussalam for Singapore yesterday for the five-day Official Visit.

Accompanying Their Royal Highnesses were His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Muntaqim and Her Royal Highness Princess Muneerah Madhul Bolkiah.

Before departing, a Doa Selamat was read by Pehin Datu Imam Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Hamid bin Bakal. Present at His Majesty The Sultan’s Flight hangar to bid farewell were His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik and other members of the royal family.

Also present at the hangar were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Cheterias; cabinet ministers; the state mufti; the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces; the Commissioner of Police; and permanent secretaries at the Prime Minister’s Office; Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade; and Ministry of Education as well as their respective spouses.

Their Royal Highnesses were welcomed at Changi International Airport by Associate Professor Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister of Communications and Information, and Minister-in-Charge of Muslim Affairs; Dr Mohamad Maliki bin Osman, Minister of State at the Ministry of National Development and Ministry of Defence, and Mayor of the South East District, as the Minister-in-Attendance; and Jaya Ratnam, the High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam, with their respective spouses.

Also welcoming Their Royal Highnesses were Haji Awang Saifulbahri bin Haji Awang Mansor, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to Singapore, and his wife.

Their Royal Highnesses then boarded a motorcade to the Grand Hyatt Hotel.

Upon arrival at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Their Royal Highnesses were greeted by Dato’ Willi B Martin, Area Vice-President. Accompanying Their Royal Highnesses were Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Ali, and Dato Paduka Awang Haji Bahrin. - Borneo Bulletin (2 September 2014)
