HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to send congratulatory messages to Sir General Peter Cosgrove, AK MC, Governor-General (Rtd) of the Commonwealth of Australia, on the occasion of his recent appointment as the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, and also to Dame Quentin Bryce, AD CVO, the outgoing Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia.

In the message to Sir General Peter Cosgrove, His Majesty said he was pleased to send his warmest congratulations to him on his recent appointment as the new Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia.

His Majesty wished the new Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia much success in his new post and looked forward to pleasure of working closely with him to further promote the warm friendship and close cooperation shared between Brunei Darussalam and the Commonwealth of Australia.

In the message to the outgoing Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, His Majesty stated that it had been a pleasure working with Dame Quentin Bryce during her term in office as Governor-General.

His Majesty said he was greatly honoured to have her visit Brunei Darussalam in 2012 and was pleased to be able to reciprocate that with His Majesty’s own State Visit to Australia last year, for which His Majesty once again thanked her for the very warm welcome and kind hospitality extended throughout his stay in Canberra.

His Majesty expressed his appreciation over Dame Quentin Bryce’s personal contribution to Brunei Darussalam and Australia’s bilateral relations.
