Stage performances highlight Islam’s beauty

HIS Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah last night graced the MABIMS Islamic Arts Stage Performance at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.

Upon arrival, Their Royal Highnesses were greeted by the Minister of Religious Affairs, Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman in his capacity as the Chairperson of the MABIMS Islamic Arts Stage Performance Committee.

Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad said that MABIMS acts as a platform for member countries to share views and make recommendations regarding Islam.

The stage performances showcased the arts and culture of Islam in order to highlight the beauty of Islam to the regional community, he said.

The stage performances were not merely meant for entertainment but also to educate the community about the true values and teachings of Islam.

The theme for the MABIMS Islamic Arts Stage Performance was “Building Islamic Archipelago Civilisation through Appreciation of the History of Islam and Malay Cultural Arts”.

The event saw a stage performance from Indonesia entitled “Seri Qasidah and Seri Selawat Nabi” which involved 19 performers. This was followed by a performance from Singapore a poem presentation with the theme “Sang Pencerah” by Haji Abdul Manaf Rahmat.

Malaysia’s stage performance called Contemporary Nasyid carrying the theme “Under Allah’s Consent” was accompanied by a symphony group of young Imams and finally Brunei Darussalam presented Tablo “Suluh Permata” performed by youths, including from the Putera Seni Group.
