His Majesty visits Singapore LNG Corporation

HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday morning consented to visit Singapore LNG Corporation. In a separate occasion, Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha consented to visit the Girl Guides Headquarters.

Upon arrival at the SLNG Terminal, Jurong Island, His Majesty was greeted by S Iswaran, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Trade and Industry of the Republic of Singapore, as well as John Ng, Chief Executive Officer of SLNG.

Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik.

His Majesty was then invited to the Visitors Centre and viewed an exhibition.

Shortly after, His Majesty took part in a photo session with SLNG personnel and subsequently signed a visitor book.

His Majesty was later briefed on safety prior to visiting the Control Room and the Terminal.

Singapore first Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) was officially opened in February 2014. The S$1.7 billion terminal owned and operated by Singapore LNG Corporation, allows Singapore to import natural gas from around the world, thereby ensuring the security of supply sources to meet Singapore’s current and future energy demand.

Also accompanying His Majesty were Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister of Environment and Water Resource of the Republic of Singapore, as Minister-In-Attendance; YAM Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar; Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Education; Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, Minister of Finance II at the Prime Minister’s Office; Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II; and Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Awang Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar, Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office.

In a separate event, Her Majesty consented to visit the Girl Guides Headquarters.

Accompanying Her Majesty was Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Also accompanying Her Majesty was Mrs Tan Keng Yam, wife of the President of the Republic of Singapore.

Upon arrival at the headquarters, Her Majesty was greeted by the Chief Commissioner of Girl Guides of the Republic of Singapore, Kim Lay Eng.

A welcoming song was performed by the Girl Guides Guard of Honour comprising 20 Brownies River Valley Family and 20 Girl Guides members as Her Majesty entered the building.

Her Majesty then proceeded to the main hall. There, the Chief Commissioner of Girl Guides gave a welcoming address.

Her Majesty also watched a performance by the Girl Guides members prior to the tour. Shortly after the tour, Her Majesty attended a high tea at the main hall.

Before departing the headquarters, Her Majesty received a memento presented by the wife of the President of the Republic of Singapore. Her Majesty also presented a gift to Mrs Tan Keng Yam.
