HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday consented to attend the Brunei 7-9 Yrs Swimming Championship 2014 to watch HRH Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel and HRH Prince ‘Abdul Muntaqim from the ISB Hammerhead Swim Team compete with others at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex Swimming Pool.

The monarch was accompanied by HRH Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, HRH Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah, HRH Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah and HRH Princess Muneerah Madhul Bolkiah.

His Majesty and other members of the royal family were greeted upon arrival by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hazair bin Haji Abdullah, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mohd Hamid bin Hj Mohd Jaafar and Director of the Department of Youth and Sports Haji Abdul Malik bin Haji Mohammad.

Ten teams, eight from Brunei and the remaining two from Miri, participated in the event which was organised by Brunei Amateur Swimming Association (BASA) and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. - Borneo Bulletin (20 October 2014)
