Tutong holds flag lowering ceremony

THE national flag lowering ceremony was held across all districts in the country to mark the completion of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 68th birthday celebrations, and in the Tutong District the ceremony was held outside of the Tutong Civic Halls Complex.

The ceremony was performed by the Royal Brunei Police Force and the flag was handed over to the Tutong District Officer, Awang Wardi bin Hj Mohammad Ali.

Also present were members of the steering committee in the Tutong District, penghulus and village heads.

Since August 15, a variety of events were held to celebrate the special occasion, such as festive markets, stage performances both religious and cultural from government departments, the Tutong community, schools and non-government organisations. Sporting events and competitions were also held including the ‘Festival Perayaan 68’ that culminated last Saturday evening with a lantern procession, water light show and fireworks. - Borneo Bulletin (1 September 2014)
