HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday safely arrived in Milan, Italy, for the 10th
Asia-Europe Summit Meeting (ASEM) which will be held from October 16 to 17.
Accompanying His Majesty are HRH Prince Abdul Wakeel and HRH Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah.
Present at the Malpensa International Airport to greet His Majesty were Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II; and Dato Paduka Zainidi bin Haji Sidup, the non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Pleni-potentiary of Brunei Daru-ssalam to Italy.
From the airport, His Majesty proceeded to the Hotel Principe di Savoia, where His Majesty will reside during the 10th ASEM.
Upon arrival at the hotel, His Majesty was welcomed by Ezio Attilio Indiani, General Manager of Hotel Principe di Savoia.
Also accompanying His Majesty to Milan is Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, Minister of Finance II at the Prime Minister’s Office.
The 10th ASEM this year gathers the heads of states and governments of the 53 member countries of ASEM from Asia and Europe. The 10th ASEM, under the theme “Responsible Partnership for Growth and Security”, will be chaired by Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council.
The 10th ASEM Summit agenda will include promoting financial and economic cooperation, addressing global matters and enhancing dialogue and cooperation between Europe and Asia, as well as the future direction of ASEM.
