Royalty feted to birthday gathering
Siti Hajar

THE Brunei Ladies Golf Association (BLGA) yesterday organised a gathering at the Radisson Hotel in the capital to celebrate Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah’s birthday, which fell earlier in the week on April 9.

Attended by members of the ladies-only association, the celebration heard opening remarks delivered by the BLGA president, who, on behalf of attendees, wished HRH “a very happy birthday.”

In expressing her gratitude to HRH as a royal patron to the BLGA, Datin Seri Utama Hjh Rosnah binti Abdullah noted that BLGA “remains true to its aim of promoting the game of golf among ladies in Brunei Darussalam”, while encouraging members to partake in competitions both at home and abroad.

Over the recent years, BLGA members have been active in a number of events, among the recent being the Borneo Ladies Golf Tournament in March, which saw the participation of 80 sportswomen. Brunei golfers emerged as victors and walked away with the challenge trophy.

The BLGA came to form in 2007 following the achievements of three Bruneian female golfers who, in 2005, competed in the International Ladies Golfers Tournament in Iran, one of whom brought home a gold medal and the other two, silver medals. - Borneo Bulletin (12 April 2014)
