His Majesty in Myanmar for key Asean Summit

HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, yesterday arrived in Nay Pyi Taw, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to attend the 24th Asean Summit.

Present at the Nay Pyi Taw International Airport to greet His Majesty were Dr Ko Ko Oo, Minister of Science and Technology, Republic of the Union of Myanmar; U Zin Yaw, Deputy Minister of Transport; and Daw Yin Yin Myint, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to Brunei Darussalam as well as other senior officers from the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. His Majesty then consented to receive a bouquet of flowers from a student.

Before boarding the motorcade towards the hotel, His Majesty consented to pass through a static guard. Students waving the flags of both countries were present at the Nay Pyi Taw International Airport area.

Also present at the airport were Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II; and Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Pahlawan Colonel (Rtd) Dato Paduka Hj Abdu’r Rahmani bin Dato Paduka Hj Basir, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

From the Nay Pyi Taw International Airport, His Majesty consented to proceed to the Aureum Palace Hotel. On arrival at the hotel, His Majesty was welcomed by the Hotel General Manager, Aung Myint Htun.

Also accompanying His Majesty to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar were Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, Minister of Finance II at the Prime Minister’s Office; and Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Awang Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar, Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office. - Borneo Bulletin (11 May 2014)
