Kurnia for the needy

HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday brought cheer to 14,650 underprivileged individuals, including single mothers, orphans and special needs individuals, in all four districts with the presentation of personal gift (Kurnia) from the monarch in conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

In the Brunei-Muara District, His Majesty’s personal representatives, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; HRH Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah and HRH Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah, presented the Kurnia to 9,916 recipients at the Istana Nurul Iman.

In the Belait District, His Majesty’s personal representative, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul ‘Azim presented the Kurnia to 1,998 recipients at the Pusat Insani Hall in Seria.

In the Tutong District, the Kurnia was presented to 2,119 recipients by His Majesty’s personal representative, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik at the Tutong District Civic Centre.

In Temburong District, His Majesty’s personal representative, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, presented the Kurnia to 617 recipients at the Belalong Community Hall, Pekan Bangar.

The cash gift is handed out to lessen the burden of the recipients and bring more joy to them. Yesterday’s ceremony reflected His Majesty’s continuous care and concern for the well-being and welfare of his subjects and residents of Brunei Darussalam, especially those who are in need. - Borneo Bulletin (6 August 2013)
