IN EFFORTS to shed light on the roles and responsibilities of the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC), a presentation on the law-making process in Brunei Darussalam was held yesterday, attended by officers and staff from the Prime Minister’s Office and departments under it.
Present to grace the event held at the Golden Jubilee Hall of the Law & Courts Building in the capital was Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Muta-Wakkilah Hayatul Bolkiah.
The session began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and followed by welcoming remarks by the Legal Draftsman, Dayang Alice Khan Ahmad Khan.
The first presenter, Dayang Zuriani Hj Sharbawi, Head of Research and Law Review Division highlighted the role of her division in the legislative process. The second presenter Pengiran Hjh Siti Rahmah Pengiran Haji Mohammad, Head of Legislative Drafting Division, presented on the law-making process in the country.
According to a press release from the AGC, “the event’s purpose was to give understanding of the AGC’s role, responsibilities and challenges in its involvement of the law-making process. It also provides a forum for the invited participants to pose any question relating to the topics presented and share their viewpoints.”
Yesterday’s session was one of many more events planned by the AGC which will be extended to other ministries and their respective departments.
