His Majesty presents State Decoration to visiting S’pore Chief of Defence Force

HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, who is also the Minister of Defence and the Supreme Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, yesterday afternoon consented to receive in audience Lieutenant General Dato Paduka Seri Ng Chee Meng, the Chief of Defence Force, Singapore Armed Forces, who is in the country for a three-day visit.

His Majesty also consented to present a State Decoration, Darjah Keberanian Laila Terbilang Yang Amat Gemilang First Class (DPKT) which carries the title, Dato Paduka Seri to Lieutenant General Ng Chee Meng. Present at the audience ceremony were Mr Jaya Ratnam, High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam; and Lieutenant Colonel Tan Tiong Keat, Assistant to the Chief of Defence Force, Singapore Armed Forces.

Also at the audience were Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, Deputy Minister of Defence; Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces; Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hamdan bin Haji Abu Bakar, Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office; and Awang Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman Acting Permanent Secretary (Defence Policy and Development) at the Ministry of Defence.

Concurrently, in a different venue at Istana Nurul Iman, Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha consented to receive in audience Datin Michelle Ng, wife of the Chief of Defence Force of the Republic of Singapore.

Also present at the ceremony were Pengiran Datin Hajah Jamilah binti Pengiran Haji Mohd Yussof, wife of the Deputy Minister of Defence, Datin Dayang Nurhayana Janis binti Abdullah, wife of the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Mrs Lim Chon Mei, spouse of Singapore Defence Attache to Brunei Darussalam. - Borneo Bulletin (4 September 2013)
