HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha yesterday consented to grace the Majlis Bersanding between Dayang Dhau’iyyah binti Abdullah and Awangku Abu Bakaruddin Shah Dinny bin Pengiran Haji Kamaruddin and Dayang Mas’udah binti Abdullah and Awangku Haji Muhammad Al-Yusrin bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Sani at Dewan Indera Samudera of The Empire Hotel & Country Club.
Also present were HRH Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince, HRH Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah, HRH Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, HRH Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah, HRH Prince ‘Abdul Malik, HRH Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel and other members of the royal family.
The newlyweds, donned in elegantly striking traditional attire, entered the hall noticeably beaming with smiles and a subtle touch of composure, especially when they became the centre of attention in a ceremony lavished with a stunningly designed “pelamin”.
The ‘Pelamin’ – bedecked on a grand setting – incorporated beads of crystals and bouquets of flowers, furnished with a silky lining of fine drapes.
The lighting backdrop of the pelamin was toned down to allow a touch of grandeur and regality in all its might in equal measure.
As the newlyweds walked gingerly into the magnificently decorated hall, the crowd broke into silence as guests witnessed a symbolic chapter in the newlyweds’ lives.
It also perhaps marked a special moment for Their Majesties and Their Royal Highnesses, as well as the close family circle that have been ever-present in both the brides’ lives.
Their Majesties and other members of the royal family also consented to take pictures with both the newlyweds.
The wedding ceremony concluded with the “Majlis Doa Selamat and Kesyukuran” last night.
