Call for proper implementation of community initiatives

COMMUNITY initiatives need to be implemented and carried out in accordance with the circulation and current requirements so that the mechanisms and objectives of each activity will remain relevant to their needs, and are suitable to inject the spirit and motivate members of the association especially the young members to participate in making the activities a success.

Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah highlighted this in a sabda during the official launching ceremony of the 4th Community Day by the Brunei Darussalam Girl Guides Association held at the association’s headquarters in Anggerek Desa.

“Majority of the members of the Brunei Darussalam Girl Guides Association are teachers and students, hence, educational activities outside of school are an excellent opportunity for young members of the association who are in school, to fill up their co-curriculum education with charity works through activities organised by the association,” HRH said.

HRH Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah also added that there is a need to increase efforts by the adult members to portray an example of excellent leadership so as to attract the younger members to voluntarily contribute their time and energy for welfare and social activities especially programmes that involve students’ efforts.

“Members of the association have an opportunity to play a role in the agenda of national development; however, it requires a robust self-reliance and a willingness to sacrifice time and energy for the greater good,” HRH continued.

“The process of conducting welfare programmes is not simple, it does have its own challenges that would require strong commitment and passion to achieve success.”

HRH also urged all members of the association to not miss the opportunity and consider the challenges as a platform towards success.

“I am confident that if all members are eager in carrying out their duties, Brunei Darussalam Girl Guides Association will be able to overcome all challenges and further improve its performance of the programme to an outstanding level.” - Borneo Bulletin (3 December 2013)
