Royalty takes part in patriotic choir competition

HRH Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah and YAM Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Rahim yesterday consented to witness the finals of the 20th Patriotic Songs Choir Competition among secondary schools and colleges nationwide.

Also participating in the competition representing Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan was their daughter YAM Pg Anak Hariisah Widadul Bolqiah.

In the competition, Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Masna Secondary School scored 84.33 per cent and were the overall champion with their patriotic song entitled “Bahagia Brunei Darussalam”. The team received a trophy, certificate of participation and $1,000.

In second place was Maktab Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin who scored 80.33 per cent with their song entitled ‘’Merdeka Brunei Darussalam’’, and third place went to Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan who scored 79 per cent with the patriotic song entitled “Brunei Bumi Bertuah”.

The teams each received a trophy, certificate of participation and prize money of $800 and $600 respectively. The finals of the competition took place yesterday at Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan.

The consolation prize winners each received trophy, certificates of participation and prize money of $350.

Prizes to the winners were presented by Pengiran Hajah Sarah binti Pg Hj Kamaluddin, Chief of Education Director, Ministry of Education, as a representative of Deputy Permanent Secretary (Core Education), Ministry of Education Awg Haji Suhaila bin Haji Abd Karim. - Borneo Bulletin (31 March 2013)
