Sultan salutes nation’s armed forces during the 52nd anniversary parade

HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Minister of Defence and Supreme Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) consented to attend the 52nd RBAF anniversary celebration yesterday at the Ministry of Defence in Bolkiah Garrison.

Upon His Majesty’s arrival, His Majesty was greeted by the Deputy Minister of Defence, Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat and the Commander of RBAF, Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin. Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince General Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, and General of the RBAF.

Shortly after His Majesty’s arrival at the Bolkiah Garrison Mini Stadium, His Majesty was accorded the royal salute before consenting to inspect the guard of honour awaiting their monarch on the field.

The guard of honour comprised 1,150 personnel from various RBAF units including the Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF), Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), Royal Brunei Air Force (TUDB), Training Institute RBAF (RBAirF), Special Force Regiment (SFR), Women Military Personnel, RBAirF fly-past personnel and the RBAF Band.

Following the inspection, the grand parade proceeded with a slow and fast march, carrying with them His Majesty’s and RBAF regimental flags.

After the march past, His Majesty delivered a titah in conjunction with the Golden Jubilee anniversary celebration. - Borneo Bulletin (2 June 2013)
