HIS Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah and Her Royal Highness Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Zariah as well as other members of the royal family last night attended the “Majlis Istiadat Akad Nikah Diraja” between YAM Tengku Amalin A’Ishah Putri binti Sultan Ismail Petra and YAM Pengiran Muda Abdul Qawi at Istana Mahkota, Kubang Kerian in Kota Bahru, Kelantan.

Following the arrival of Their Royal Highnesses and members of the Kelantan royal family, the event began with the recitation of verses of Al-Quran.

As the Dian Empat was lit, it marked the commencement of solemnisation proceedings which were conducted by the Al-Fadhil Imam Besar of Sultan Ismail Petra Mosque.

Also in attendance at the royal solemnisation ceremony were Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Nor’ain, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al- Islam, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Nasibah, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Jefriah, YTM Pengiran Babu Raja Pengiran Anak Hajah Besar binti Pengiran Anak Haji Metassan as well as siblings of YAM Pengiran Muda Abdul Qawi.

The royal solemnisation ceremony reached an important moment as YAM Pengiran Muda Abdul Qawi made his entrance to the designated seating area and pronounced his marriage vows as a symbol of acceptance to officially announce YAM Tengku Amalin A’Ishah Putri as his wife.

Shortly after, YAM Pengiran Muda Abdul Qawi signed solemnisation forms witnessed by two esteemed religious officials from the Brunei delegation. A Doa Selamat was also read to mark the completion of the royal solemnisation ceremony.

Later in the night, a Majlis Santap was also held as the royal couple was introduced to the hundreds of guests who were represented by both the Brunei delegation as well as close, immediate and extended family members of YAM Tengku Amalin A’Ishah Putri.

As the dinner came to a conclusion, the bride and groom walked to the royal dais as both family members from Brunei and Kelantan took the opportunity to take pictures on their phones and capture the historic moment between both prominent royal families and a new beginning for YAM Tengku Amalin A’Ishah Putri and YAM Pengiran Muda Abdul Qawi.

Today the “Majlis Istiadat Bersanding Diraja” will be held at the Istana Negeri, Kubang Kerian in Kota Bahru. A similar ceremony will also be held in Brunei in the first week of July followed by a thanksgiving prayer ceremony. - Borneo Bulletin (28 June 2013)
