HIS Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik in a sabda yesterday urged graduates to enhance their capabilities not just limited to attaining education and qualifications but also in other aspects. His Royal Highness said graduates should also possess qualities such as good leadership skills, effective communication, team work and skills in human resource management, in his sabda during the convocation ceremony for 184 graduates of the International Graduate Studies College (KIGS), held at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas. His Royal Highness also urged the college to constantly offer programmes that are aligned with the local human resource and job market needs. Noting that KIGS is active in offering academic and vocational programes to contribute to the country’s economic and private sector growth, His Royal Highness said this is paramount “because one of the Sultanate’s education system’s objective is to generate high calibre human resource that has the skills and competencies essential for the country’s development”. He also urged KIGS to deepen its cooperation with local and international tertiary education institutions to raise its academic capabilities and leverage on best practice methods used in other education institutions. Citing KIGS’ collaboration with Lim Kok Wing University, Malaysia to offer full time Bachelor Degree courses locally, His Royal Highness said with these efforts, he believes the college has more capabilities to grow by offering excellent education services that are at par with local and international tertiary education institutions. His Royal Highness also stressed the value of absorbing appropriate and genuine self-character building and moral values to the college’s programmes, as a way to ensure knowledge and skills attained has the ability to generate graduates as catalysts to a more progressive and excellent future generation. Earlier in the sabda, His Royal Highness congratulated all the graduates who received their degrees and diplomas at the ceremony, and also to their families for the support given towards the achievement. “I believe this achievement today is the result of perseverance, effort and determination given to enhance each of their self-accomplishments,” His Royal Highness said.
