His Majesty receives Asean leaders for Retreat Session

HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Chairman of Asean 2013, yesterday consented to receive the Asean Heads of State and Government to the 22nd Asean Summit’s Retreat. The Retreat Session took place at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) building.

Upon arrival at the Prime Minister’s Office building, His Majesty was greeted by Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, Minister of Finance II at the Prime Minister’s Office; Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II; and Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Awang Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar, Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office.

Shortly after their arrivals, His Majesty together with other Asean Heads of State and Government proceeded to the Main Atrium for a group photo session. After the photo session, His Majesty and the Asean Heads of State and Government moved to the Main Conference Hall for the Retreat Session.

During the Retreat Session, the Asean leaders discussed issues related to Asean Community 2015 including Political-Security Community, Economic Community, Socio-Cultural Community, Initiative on Asean Integration (IAI) Work Plan II, Master Plan on Asean Connectivity (MPAC), Asean’s Central Role and the Regional Architecture, and beyond Asean Community 2015.

At the end of the Retreat Session, His Majesty consented to proceed with the Asean Heads of State and Government for a luncheon at the Banquet Hall of the Prime Minister’s Office building.

Also attending the luncheon was His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade. - Borneo Bulletin (26 April 2013)
