Students get a right royal treat

HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha yesterday graced Al-Falaah School’s Year End Concert and Graduation Certificate Presentation (Ihtifaal Ceremony) of the school’s Kindergarten 3 and Year 6 students as the school term for 2013/1435 Hijrah comes to a close.

At the event that took place at the school’s Main Hall in Kg Sungai Akar yesterday morning, a total of 82 Kindergarten 3 students from the school’s Kg Sungai Akar and Ban 5 branches received their graduation certificates from Their Majesties, including Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah, who was also among those awarded for outstanding academic performance in her class.

Their Majesties also consented to present graduation certificates to a total of 21 Year 6 students of the school’s Sungai Akar branch.

Among those involved in the performances was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel, who took part in a choral speaking presentation.

His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel and Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah also appeared on stage in reciting opening and closing prayers with other pupils during the event.

Following colourful individual and group performances that included a ‘nasyid’ presentation a story-telling and a sketch in Arabic, Their Majesties consented to present graduation certificates to male and female pupils from the school’s Kindergarten 3 from the school’s two branches, as well as to Year 6 students of the school’s Sungai Akar branch.

Their Majesties later presented certificates to outstanding pupils of Kindergarten 3 of the school’s Sungai Akar Branch and Kindergarten from its Ban 5 branch.

Their Majesties also presented graduation certificates to Year 6 students, prizes for outstanding students in primary levels, the ‘Best Student in Al-Quran’ and students who won the National Level Al-Quran Memorising Competition on the occasion of Nuzul Al-Quran celebration and the Private School’s Speech Competition.

Following the certificate presentation, Their Majesties consented to receive pesambahs presented by the School Principal, Ustaz Saiyed Haamid Aal-Taher, and Deputy Principal, Hajah Sharifah Mastura As-Saggaf.

Their Majesties then proceeded to visit a few classrooms including those of His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel and Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah. Prior to leaving, Their Majesties consented to have a group photo taken with the teachers and staff of Al-Falaah School.

The private school, which provides Nursery and Kindergarten to Year 6 education, started operating in 1995. Its new building in Kg Sungai Akar, funded by His Majesty, was opened in 2011.

It was built on a 3.47-acre site and constructed with a mixture of historic Islamic architecture. The school is equipped with modern and sophisticated facilities in line with the advancement of technology in the education system. - Borneo Bulletin (24 November 2013)
