Prince Malik at Yayasan Khatam Al-Quran event

YAYASAN Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) held a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony yesterday in celebration of the holy month of Ramadhan.

His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, the Chairman of Jemaah Tadbir Yayasan, attended the ceremony, which was held at the YSHHB Complex building in the capital.

The proceedings began with the recital of 30 Juzuks of Al-Quran by readers comprising lecturers and students of Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.

This was followed by the Khatam Al-Quran ceremony and Tahlil led by Ustaz Mohamad Hashim bin Hj Abdullah, lecturer at Institut Tahfiz.

The Doa Tahlil was then led by Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar, before the event continued with the breaking of fast.

Mass Maghrib prayer followed, which was participated by HRH Prince ‘Abdul Malik, with the prayers being led by Pehin Dato Haji Salim.

Also present at yesterday’s proceedings was Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Chairman of the Yayasan board.

The event also saw the attendance of members of the Jemaah Tadbir and Yayasan board members; board members of the Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans; Yayasan officers and staff; as well as teachers from Yayasan School.

According to a Yayasan press statement, “It is customary for the government, private sector, associations and individuals in this country to hold religious ceremonies during Ramadhan to celebrate this blessed month.” - Borneo Bulletin (24 July 2013)
