HER Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah officially launched the two-day Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Charity Bazaar 2013 yesterday at the Jubilee Park in the capital.

The 8th Charity Bazaar is being held to mark the organisation’s 13th anniversary and is based on the theme of ‘I Care, You Care, We Care’. It is being celebrated from August 31 to September 1 and accentuates how the public can support the centre.

Prior to the launch, the event began with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by welcoming remarks from the chairman, KC Lim. It then continued with cheque presentations that were received by HRH Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah on behalf of Pusat Ehsan. The donations came from five representatives namely Build Mix Trading, Pertama Department Store, KFC (B) Sdn Bhd, Swee Sdn Bhd and Nazmi Textile Sdn Bhd.

Once the celebration was in full swing, HRH Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah toured the stalls and was invited to play games.

The two-day charity bazaar features exciting games such as jeu de boules, a go-cart race, horseshoe throwing, water-based games and more. The public is invited to take part in the fun and games and donate for a good cause.

It is hoped the funds raised from the event can help cover the costs of completely carrying out programmes and services in its two branches.

Pusat Ehsan is a non-government, non-profit charitable organisation dedicated to providing early intervention, special education, vocational training and rehabilitation services for children and adults with disabilities without compelled fees.

A way to give back to the community, the centre is striving to give its best for people with disabilities by adopting an altruistic approach with a vision of developing the abilities of every individual with disabilities in the Sultanate. Pusat Ehsan’s former students have successfully been employed in the banking and hospitality industries.

The public can purchase $5 coupons that are available at the venue, which contains five coupons worth $1 each that can be used for the various activities. The bazaar is open from 9am untill 10pm. - Borneo Bulletin (1 September 2013)
