Sultan leaves Sri Lanka after attending CHOGM

HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday left Colombo, Sri Lanka after attending the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.

Accompanying His Majesty were His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel and Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah.

Before leaving the Hilton Colombo Hotel, a Doa Selamat was read by the State Mufti, Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned.

Present at the Bandaranaike International Airport to bid farewell to His Majesty were Gitanjana Gunawardena, Deputy Minister of Civil Aviation as well as other senior officials from the Government of Sri Lanka.

Also present at the airport to bid farewell to His Majesty were Dato Paduka Haji Sidek bin Ali, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to Sri Lanka (residing in India) and officers from the High Commission of Brunei Darussalam based in New Delhi, India.

On Sunday evening, His Majesty attended a State Dinner for the Commonwealth Heads of Government. The event took place at the Temple Trees, Colombo, Sri Lanka and was hosted by Mahinda Rajapaksa, President of Sri Lanka, and wife, Shiranthi Wickramasinghe Rajapaksa.
