PROUD mothers, Siti Nurhidayah Abdullah, Nurun Hamizah Sahari and Masdewi Sukardi, were all smiles yesterday as they welcomed their new babies on the same day as the 67th birthday of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
First-time mother, Nurhidayah, aged 21, gave birth to a 2.170 kg baby girl at home before being sent to the hospital for further treatment.
According to a family member, Nurhidayah only realised that she was about to give birth when she felt pains and an urge to go to the toilet.
She called her husband, Md Harde Abdin, who rushed to the bathroom and quickly held out his hands to hold the baby when he saw the baby “coming out”.
The second baby was born at about half-an-hour later at 2.04am. Nurun Hamizah Sahari had a baby girl weighing 2.710 kg through Caesarian.
Nurun Hamizah, a nurse at Sg Hanching Health Clinic, had to deliver by Caesarian due to her high blood pressure. Her husband Basil Basyiruddin Hj Md Salleh is also a nurse, working at Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital.
They are both grateful and happy to welcome their 2.710 kg baby girl on the same day as His Majesty’s 67th birthday. She was actually due to deliver on July 23.
Meanwhile, Masdewi delivered a baby boy weighing 3.160 kg at 3.18am. This is her and her husband, Abd Halim Hj Zainal Abidin’s third baby.
She is honoured to share with the Bulletin that her first baby, a boy, was born on the anniversary of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
Babies were also born to: Norizzah Md Yahya and Pg Ermizatul Pg Metassan – a baby boy weighing 3.260 kg delivered at 6.54am; Elimy Suzianty – a 2.59 kg baby girl at 7.36am; and Hjh Nonalaiwati Hj Ahmad – a 3.090 kg baby girl at 8.35am.
Nur Mahirah Abdullah gave birth to a baby boy weighing 3.010 kg at 8.54am and Sarrah Bahar had a 2.820 kg baby girl at 9.25am.
Juraniza Julkifli who was due to give birth next month delivered a 3.040 kg baby boy at 1.06pm, followed by Zaimi Hj Awg Damit who had a 2.980 kg baby girl at 2.29pm and Rasidah Damit who had a baby boy weighing 2.790 kg at 3.10pm.
Also giving birth were Hjh Maszuridah Hj Mahmud (3.274 kg baby boy delivered at 3.33pm), Nur Iffah Izzati Hj Abd Majid (3.380 kg baby boy at 5.55pm) and Siti Hidayatul Ma-Minah Hj Mustaffa (2.880 kg baby boy at 7.27pm).
At press time, RIPAS Hospital recorded a total of 14 births (eight boys and six girls) between midnight and yesterday evening.
The Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital (PMMPMHAMB) in Tutong recorded the births of a baby girl born to Nur Aqilah Abdullah Chong at 10.15am and a baby boy weighing 2.840 kg delivered by Siti Nor Farida Hj Sani at 1.43pm.
Meanwhile, two baby girls and two baby boys were born at Suri Seri Begawan Hospital in the Belait District. The first baby girl was born to Nur Halimah Jaharah Mohd Zaidani at 1246am, followed by Liew Nyuk Fong who had a baby girl at 5.19am.
The two baby boys were born to Roziah Ahmad at 6.46am and Maslindawani Talib at 12.17pm.
No births were recorded at the Pengiran Isteri Hajjah Mariam Hospital in Temburong or the Jerudong Park Medical Centre.
