THE Brunei Darussalam’s Girl Guides Association (BDGGA) yesterday held a ‘Doa Kesyukuran’ or thanksgiving prayer and a mass Zohor prayer in conjunction with the 67th birthday celebration of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. The ceremony was held at the association’s headquarters.

The ceremony also included a recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil for the late Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit.

Present during the ceremony were the Life Vice Presidents of BDGGA, Commissioner of the association, committee members of the association as well as members of the Women’s Council of Brunei Darussalam.

The thanksgiving and mass Isyak prayers were led by Dayang Hajah Fatimah binti Haji Abdul Ghani, Spiritual Commissioner of the association.

The event aimed to further enliven the celebration of His Majesty’s 67th birthday through religious activities and to encourage young members of the association to perform their religious obligations dutifully. - Borneo Bulletin (16 July 2013)
