HIS Royal Highness Prince General Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, and General of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), yesterday consented to visit the Ministry of Defence, Malaysia (MINDEF), as well as the Terendak Camp in Malacca.
The arrival of His Royal Highness Prince General Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah at the MINDEF Square was welcomed by Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri, Deputy Minister of Defence, Malaysia; General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Zulkifeli bin Mohd Zin, Chief of the Malaysian Armed Forces; Dato’ Sri Dr Haji Ismail bin Haji Ahmad, Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Malaysia; General Datuk Raja Mohamed Affandi bin Raja Mohamed Noor, Chief of the Malaysian Land Forces; Admiral Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Abd Aziz bin Haji Jaafar, Chief of the Malaysian Royal Marine Forces; and General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Rodzali bin Daud, Chief of the Malaysian Air Forces.
According to a press release from the Prime Minister’s Office, His Royal Highness was invited to a dais to receive the General Salute and inspect the Main Guard of Honour mounted by the First Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment.
His Royal Highness proceeded to the Teratai Room of Wisma Pertahanan, MINDEF to attend a briefing on ‘Higher Defence Organisation’ by Major General Dato Kamarulzaman, Assistant Chief of Staff, Defence Planning, Malaysian Armed Forces Camp.
After the briefing, His Royal Highness was invited to the Perkasa Room to sign a Visitors Book and to receive a plaque presented by Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin bin Tun Hussein, the Minister of Defence, Malaysia.
In return, His Royal Highness presented a plaque to Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin and joined a photo session.
His Royal Highness was also invited to the MINDEF Square to receive a second General Salute.
His Royal Highness then visited the Terendak Camp in Malacca.
At the 8th Station Guard of the Royal Ranger Regiment, Terendak Camp, His Royal Highness was welcomed by General Datuk Raja Mohamed Affandi, and Brigadier General Jalaluddin bin Haji Md Yusof, Chief of the 10th Para Brigade.
At a dais, His Royal Highness received the General Salute and then inspected the Quarter Guard.
His Royal Highness went to the Officer’s Mess where His Royal Highness was received by General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Zulkifeli.
His Royal Highness proceeded to the Parawood Training Field and walked past a Static Exhibition.
At the training field, His Royal Highness witnessed a ‘PARA Dynamic’ Demonstration which showcased various combat skills, incuding the performance of 8 Combat Free Fall; Unarmed Combat; Combat Parade Platoon and Combat Swimming; and Para Multi-Skills Demonstrations performed by 100 officers and 2,100 Para Army personnel.
After witnessing the demonstration, His Royal Highness received a Maroon Beret, an Honorary Parachutist Badge and a Certificate of the 10th Para Brigade presented by General Datuk Raja Mohamed Affandi.
His Royal Highness also consented to receive a plaque presented by Brigadier General Jalaluddin.
In return, His Royal Highness presented a plaque to Brigadier General Jalaluddin.
His Royal Highness also witnessed a Para Warrior Dance performed by 200 army personnel, which concluded with a Shout of Para Strike (Jeritan Gempur Para).
A Doa Selamat was read and His Royal Highness received the General Salute.
His Royal Highness also consented to sign a Visitors’ Book which was followed by a photo session.
Before departing the Terendak Camp, His Royal Highness was invited to the Officer’s Mess for a luncheon.
The Terendak Camp is located along the coast of the Malacca Straits about 22.5km from the capital of Malacca. The camp was named after the highest hill, ‘Bukit Terendak’, and houses the Third Division of the Malaysian Armed Forces and the 10th Para Brigade.
Accompanying His Royal Highness during the visit was Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin as the Minister-in-Attendance.
Also present were Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, Minister of Development; Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, Minister of Finance II at the Prime Minister’s Office; Dato Paduka Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, Dato Paduka Haji Ishaaq bin Haji Abdullah, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to Malaysia; and Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, Deputy Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
