Brunei, Myanmar discuss regional issues

HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to a bilateral meeting with U Thein Sein, the President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar at the International Convention Centre, at the sidelines of the 23rd Asean Summit yesterday.

During the meeting, His Majesty and President U Thein Sein discussed issues pertaining to bilateral relations between Brunei and Myanmar and also exchanged views on regional and international matters of mutual concern.

Also at the meeting were Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abd Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, Minister of Finance II at the Prime Minister’s Office; Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II and Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonol (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Awang Hj Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar, Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office.

The two countries established diplomatic relations on September 21, 1993 and President Thein Sein came on a state visit to Brunei in December last year.

Both countries share friendly bilateral cooperation in education, health and labour. - Borneo Bulletin (11 October 2013)
