Royalty at CNY open house

HIS Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah yesterday graced the Chinese New Year open house of prominent figures in the Chinese community, Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Awg Goh King Chin and Chan Key Hong of Maju Motors.

Accompanying Their Royal Highnesses were HRH Prince ‘Abdul Malik, and Their Royal Highnesses’ children, HRH Prince ‘Abdul Muntaqim and HRH Princess Muneerah Madhul Bolkiah.

Their Royal Highnesses’ were greeted on arrival by Pehin Dato Paduka Goh and Datin.

Earlier, HRH Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah and HRH Princess Hajah Masna also graced Pehin Dato Paduka Goh’s CNY open house.

The open houses were alos attended by several Cabinet Ministers, members of the diplomatic corps, senior officers from the government and private sectors as well as other prominent business associates.

As has been the norm, a lion dance performance, which has been part of the Chinese culture for thousands of years, was performed.

The lion dance symbolises power, wisdom, and good fortune. It is believed to chase away evil spirits and bring happiness, longevity and good luck.

Yesterday’s lion dance performance at Pehin Dato Goh’s residence was performed by members of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce and the Chung Hwa Lion Dance Troupe.

At the residence of Chan Key Hong of Maju Motors, Their Royal Highnesses also watched a lion dance performance and mingled with the guests. - Borneo Bulletin (11 February 2013)
