His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Minister of Defence and Supreme Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), yesterday afternoon granted an audience to the US Secretary of Navy (SECNAV) Ray Mabus.

The US Secretary of the Navy is currently in Brunei Darussalam on a three-day working visit to further strengthen defence cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and the United States.

During the audience, His Majesty and the US Secretary of Navy expressed satisfaction with the existing close and cordial defence relations between Brunei Darussalam and the United States.

Defence relations between the two countries include exchange visits, exercises, dialogue and training.

Also present during the audience were Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces; Mr Daniel Luke Shields, United States Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam; Awg Haji Hamdan bin Haji Abu Bakar, Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office; and Pengiran Dato Azmansham bin Pengiran Haji Mohammad, Acting Permanent Secretary (Defence Policy and Development) at the Ministry of Defence. - Borneo Bulletin (6 April 2012)
