His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to attend the closing ceremony of the 10th Brunei International Skill At Arms Meet (BISAM) yesterday at the Binturan Firing Range Complex in Penanjong Garrison.
Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince General Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and General of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
Also present were Chiefs of Defence Forces, Chief of Defence Staffs/Representatives, High Commissioners/Ambassadors and Representatives of participating countries and members of 10th BISAM 2012 Executive Committee.
During the closing ceremony, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and HRH the Crown Prince consented to take part in the Novelty Shooting Competition at the 350m Point Gallery Range 1, as well as to witness the Rifle Falling Plate Final.
The VVIP Novelty Shooting Competition was won by a team comprising His Majesty; General Tan Sri Dato' Sri Zulkifli bin Mohd Zin; Mr Pham Binh Man and Col Dato Paduka Hj Harith bin Hj Abd Karim.
Second place in the VVIP Novelty Shooting Competition went to the team comprising HRH Prince General Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah; Lt Gen Neo Kian Hong; Col James Burns and Col (U) Zainal bin Hj Yaakub.
Third place in the VVIP Novelty Shooting Competition went to a team comprising Deputy Minister of Defence Dato Paduka Awg Hj Mustappa bin Hj Sirat; Lt Gen TNI Y Suryo Prabowo; Group Captain Mike Longstaff and Col Meach Horn.
The fourth place in the VVIP Novelty Shooting Competition went to a team comprising the Commander of the RBAF, Major General Dato Paduka Seri Hj Aminuddin Ihsan; Deputy Commissioner of Police Awg Bahrin bin Mohd Noor; Commodore Al-Zubir Mohammad Al-Zubir and Captain Ansar Mahmood.
The 10th BISAM trophy presentation commenced with the marching of Pipes and Drums from the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Brunei Land Forces - the Butt Party Contingent for the 10th BISAM.
In the 10th BISAM, the Rifle Falling Plate Match was won by Indonesia 'B', followed by Singapore 'A' and Indonesia 'A'.
The Overall Individual Rifle Match was won by Sgt Jefri bin Hj Yakub from Brunei Darussalam. The Overall Individual Pistol Match was won by Private Sughono from the Republic of Indonesia. The Overall Team Pistol Match went to the Republic of Indonesia.
The Overall GPMG Pair Match was won by Sgt Yulianshah and Private Hendra Silalahi from the Republic of Indonesia. The Overall Team GPMG was won by the Republic of Indonesia.
And for the ABDB Golden Jubilee Match, the winner was Team Merbuk.
A replica of a 5.56-mm ammunition round was returned to its case to symbolise the official closing of the 10th BISAM.
The Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces in his welcoming remarks praised the commitment and dedication of professional marksmen from all contingents that participated in this year meet.
He said all contingents had demonstrated a very high standard and benchmark, and were able to build the spirit of comradeship among shooters, making this year's meet more competitive and challenging.
But what is most important, he said, is the everlasting friendship among them. He congratulated all the winners in their respective events.
To those who had not performed as well as they might had wished, he hoped they had gained valuable experience and wished them a more successful performance at the next BISAM in 2014.
