More projects under 10th NDP come under royal scrutiny

In upholding the continuous effort of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in ensuring projects under the 10th National Development Plan (NDP) are implemented and run accordingly, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the 10th National Development Plan, yesterday morning consented to visit another seven projects under the National Development Plan.

His Royal Highness the Crown Prince first visited the site of the Pharmacy Services Building and the National Health and Medical Store Building in Kampong Madaras. Upon arrival at the site, His Royal Highness was greeted by Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Abdul Rahman bin Hj Ibrahim, Minister of Finance II at the Prime Minister's Office as Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the 10th National Development Plan; Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Mohd Yusof, Minister of Health; Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Suyoi bin Hj Osman, Minister of Development; and Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Yahya bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar, Minister of Industry and Primary Resources; as well as other members of the Executive Committee of the 10th National Development Plan and senior government officers.

The construction of the Pharmacy Services Building on the 2.5-acre site aims to enhance the quality of pharmaceutical services and to ensure the continuous supply of safe, effective and high quality medicines to the public. The 27-month construction began in February 2011 and is expected to be completed in May 2013.

The construction of the National Health and Medical Store Building is to facilitate comprehensive sundries and medical storage as well as generate an efficient supply of medicines.

The construction which just began last month will take 24 months to complete, in September 2014.

His Royal Highness was then briefed on the construction of a New Terminal Reservoir in Berakas and Kampong Terunjing. The construction of the terminal is to upgrade the supply of fresh water system in the Brunei-Muara District. The project also aims to accommodate the increasing need of water supply in the Brunei-Muara District.

The project commenced in March 2009, and is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2013. Before leaving for the next site, His Royal Highness consented to sign commemorative parchments for the three projects.

His Royal Highness then consented to visit the Rimba Health Centre, Gadong. At the site, His Royal Highness was briefed on the construction of the complex which is aimed at delivering to the public a comprehensive medical service particularly those residing in Mukim Gadong.

At the moment, the health services for Mukim Gadong is situated at the Rimba Dialysis Centre. The project which began in January this year will run for 15 months and is expected to be completed in April 2013. His Royal Highness consented to sign a commemorative parchment.

His Royal Highness also consented to visit the Agro Technology Park in Kampong Tungku. Upon arrival His Royal Highness was greeted by Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Yahya bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, Minister of Industry and Primary Resources.

At the site, His Royal Highness was briefed on the construction of the project which is aimed at developing an internationally renowned agro-technology park as part of the economic diversification strategy through the development of agro-industry that focuses on manufacturing halal products. The project, a massive 500-hectare 'high-tech' one-stop industrial community, is expected to create more than 9,000 job opportunities including more than 2,000 at the professional level. The first phase which covers 50 hectares is scheduled for completion in January 2013. His Royal Highness then consented to sign a commemorative parchment.

His Royal Highness then consented to proceed to Phase One of the Mechanical Training Centre, also in Kampong Tungku. Upon arriving at the centre, His Royal Highness was greeted by Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Hj Awg Abu Bakar bin Hj Apong, the Minister of Education. His Royal Highness took a closer look at a number of workshops at the centre. The construction of the building which has been completed provides additional infrastructure which can accommodate more number of students in conducive and quality surrounding. The building is equipped with classrooms, workshops, auditorium, multi-purpose hall including an administration block which is aligned with the need to diversify the technical and vocational programmes in the country.

This is to meet the needs of diversifying technical and vocational programmes to increase job opportunities as well as to create potential businessmen in the future in automobile industry in this country.

His Royal Highness then consented to proceed to the Conference Room of the

Mechanical Training Centre where His Royal Highness was briefed on the First Phase of the Jerudong-Tungku Link Road. The first phase of the project which involved earthworks have been completed. The overall project of the six-km dual carriageway link road is expected to be completed in 2013.

Before leaving the centre, His Royal Highness consented to sign a commemorative parchment. His Royal Highness then consented to visit the project site of the Jerudong~Tungku Link Road to take a closer look on the progress of the work. Before leaving the site, His Royal Highness consented to sign a commemorative parchment. The new road is expected to ease the flow of traffic in the area and provide convenience to road users soon.

The working visit allowed His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the 10th National Development Plan, to have a closer look at the implementation, planning as well as operations carried out in the implementation of the development projects under the National Development Plan.

This is aimed at achieving Wawasan Brunei 2035, which is to be recognised everywhere for a well-educated and highly-skilled citizens, high quality of life and having a dynamic and sustainable economy. - Borneo Bulletin (26 October 2012)
