Green Jewel fetes His Majesty

The country's Green Jewel, Temburong District welcomed His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and other members of the royal family in the third consecutive get-together ceremony yesterday.

The field performance yesterday highlighted the theme 'Monarch's Vision and People's Vision are the Country's Vision', focussing on the concept of 'Darussalam Bilhuda' or a nation that is peaceful and safe under the guidance from Allah the Almighty.

A total of 466 participants comprising students, pupils, youths, uniformed personnel and members from the various ethnic communities in the district presented the performances, which highlighted the history of the arrival and development of Islam and its teachings as well as the country's Vision 2035 in the aspect of religion. A special exhibition on the development of Islam was also held.

Also present at the ceremony were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; HRH Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah; HRH Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah; HRH Prince 'Abdul Malik; and HRH Prince 'Abdul Mateen.

School students and members of various ethnic communities lined up along the main road leading to the field of the Bangar Town Civic Hall Complex to welcome their beloved ruler and other members of the royal family.

The Acting Temburong District Officer, Awg Suhara Fadzali bin Hj Yusop thanked His Majesty for the consent on the implementation of various schemes and initiatives in enhancing the welfare of the citizens and residents in the district, as highlighted in the monarch's 66th birthday titah, including the plan to build a bridge connecting the Temburong and Brunei-Muara Districts.

He said the news was eagerly awaited with full gratitude by all citizens and residents of the Temburong District.

"We continue to uphold and support the aspiration of His Majesty for the implementation of the development programme and changes towards achieving Brunei Vision 2035," he said.

His Majesty later consented to mingle with citizens and residents of the Temburong District during the get-together ceremony. Thousands greeted His Majesty and also posed for group photos and presented 'pesambah'.

Today, His Majesty will attend the get-together with citizens and residents in the Brunei-Muara District, at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddin in the capital. - Borneo Bulletin (19 July 2012)
