His Majesty meets with S'pore leaders

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on Thursday consented to visit the Singapore Airshow 2012, and held meetings with Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam, President of the Republic of Singapore and Mr Lee Kuan Yew, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore.

After visiting the Singapore Airshow, His Majesty consented to attend a luncheon hosted by Dr Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Defence at the ST Engineering Suite, Changi Exhibition Centre. His Majesty also witnessed an aerial display provided by some of the participating countries at the event.

Accompanying His Majesty at the event were Brunei's Minister of Finance II at the Prime Minister's Office, Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Abdul Rahman bin Hj Ibrahim; Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II, Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Awg Lim Jock Seng; Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Major General Dato Paduka Seri Hj Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Hj Abidin; and other senior officials.

In the afternoon, His Majesty consented to meet Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam, the Singapore President, at the West Drawing Room of the Istana Presidential Palace. Both leaders exchanged views on matters related to bilateral relations as well as regional and international matters of mutual interest.

This was followed by a four-eye meeting between His Majesty and Mr Lee Kuan Yew, the former Prime Minister of Singapore.

Later in the evening, His Majesty consented to attend a dinner hosted by Mr Lee Hsien Loong, the Singapore Prime Minister, at the Clifford Restaurant, Fullerton Bay Hotel, Singapore.

Following the dinner, His Majesty and the Singapore Prime Minister proceeded to the Lantern Café for refreshments. Also present during the session was Madam Ho Ching, the wife of the Singapore Prime Minister. - Borneo Bulletin (18th February 2012)
