His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Wakeel yesterday attended a donation ceremony from Al-Falaah School to the Humanitarian Fund for Victims of the Tropical Storm Washi in the Philippines.
The event was held at the Ministry of Education.
HRH was greeted upon arrival by YB Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Hj Awg Abu Bakar bin Hj Apong, the Minister of Education; Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Yusoff bin Hj Ismail, the Deputy Minister of Education; Datin Paduka Hjh Adina binti Othman, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports; as well as Permanent Secretaries and senior officers from both the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
As other ministries have done, the Ministry of Education has sympathised with the victims of the Tropical Storm Washi, which swept across the central and southern parts of the Philippines, killing hundreds. The entire staff of the Ministry of Education, as well as students and teachers from government schools and members of the private sector, worked together to raise funds to help alleviate the suffering endured by victims and families of the deceased.
During the ceremony, HRH was asked to sign a parchment. HRH then handed over the donation of B$5,500 which had been collected by members of the Al-Falaah School community.
The donation was received by the Minister of Education, who in turn presented it to the Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports for the National Committee for the Humanitarian Fund for Victims of the Tropical Storm Washi, Philippines.
Also present was Ustaz Saiyed Haamid Aal-Taaher, the Principal of Al-Falaah School.
