Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha yesterday expressed her hope to see the Girl Guides Association implement even more projects that are Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) centric so as to instil the national philosophy among Bruneian girls, particularly those who are still schooling.
In a titah to mark the Girl Guides Day 2012 celebration at the Sejahtera Hall of Sumbangsih building in Beribi yesterday, Her Majesty said: "Insya Allah (God willing), through such efforts to strengthen people's morals and character, together we will be able to overcome negative influences that may corrupt the morality and minds of our children."
According to Her Majesty, who is also the Royal Patron of the Girl
Guides Association, such negative influences could diminish the aspirations of the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to see the development of a peaceful and educated society.
Noting that the United Nations (UN) had declared October 11 as the "International Day of the Girl" this year, Her
Majesty viewed the decision of the UN to declare October 11 as the "International Day of the Girl" as a big recognition towards the important roles of female children and teenagers in every society.
It is hoped that the the Girl Guides Association would gain lessons and inspiration from this declaration, said Her Majesty.
Her Majesty also expressed her hope that welfare activities undertaken by the Girl Guides Association would be implemented smoothly and that such efforts made by the association would gain the blessings and guidance of Allah the Almighty.
