His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to send congratulatory messages to Canadian Governor-General David Lloyd Johnston, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Joseph Harper, as well as the government and people of Canada, on the occasion of Canada Day.
In the message to the Canadian Governor-General, His Majesty said he greatly appreciated the friendship and goodwill shared by the two countries. His Majesty looked forward to further opportunities to enhance these valued cooperative relations.
In the message to the Canadian Prime Minister, His Majesty expressed his satisfaction over the much-valued friendship and cooperation ties between the two countries. His Majesty also expressed his confidence that the long-standing ties between the two countries, as well as the partnership in both Asean-Canada dialogue and Apec, would continue to be strengthened in the years to come.
HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs & Trade, meanwhile, sent a similar message to Canada's Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia Pacific Gateway, Edward Fast, on the occasion of Canada Day.
HRH also expressed his hope that economic and trade relations between the two nations would continue to be strengthened.
