Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah was among the 139 participants in the semi-marathon run held in conjunction with the 27th National Day yesterday.
The event was a collaboration between the Village Consultative Council (MPK) of Masjid Lama, Pekan Muara, Sabun and Pelumpong, Mukim Serasa with the Brunei-Muara District Office, Ministry of Home Affairs and the private sector.
Her Royal Highness was the first runner-up in Category 'C'.
According to Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Abdul Kahar, MPK Advisory of Masjid Lama, Pekan Muara, Sabun and Pelumpong, Mukim Serasa, the competition was divided into seven categories.
Category A, B and C was an eight-kilometre run from Muara Beach to Serasa Beach, while Category D, E, F and G was a six-kilometre run from the former Gerai Seri Muara to Serasa Beach.
The guest of honour was the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Awang Haji Ismail bin Haji Abd Manaf, who also presented prizes and certificates to the winners.
Category A was won by Hj Mohd Azmi bin Hj Suhaimi, followed by Ali Aziz bin Rasil and Mohd Haiman bin Abdullah in second and third places respectively. Category B was won by Awang Othman bin Mustapa, followed by Zainorsam bin Md Zain and Baharon bin Baharin in second and third place respectively.
In Category C, the first place winner was Tan Siew King with Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah in the second place and followed by Dayang Amalina binti Abdullah in third place.
Awang Md Afifi bin Anuar, Salleh bin Haji Serudin and Mohd Hatim bin Haji Md Damit were the winners in Category D followed by Siti Nuralina binti Zemahari, Siti Asmira binti Hassan and Siti Norazimah binti Zemahari in Category E.
Category F was won by Khoo Soon Kok, Mohd Afandi bin Haji Kassim and Faiq bin Marjuki, while Category G was won by Dayang Asmahan binti Mattamin, Nurul Mahirah bin Miramid and Noraffizah binti Hj Suhaili.
Present to witness the semi-marathon was Brunei-Muara District Officer Awang Haji Jamain bin Momin, who presented prizes and certificates to the veteran participants.
The marathon run was one of the activities held in conjunction with the 27th National Day celebrations this year and also to develop physical and mental health among the local community through fitness activities to create vibrant and healthy communities.
