771 babies in Tutong receive royal gifts

A total of 771 babies in the Tutong District among 6,435 infants throughout the nation received personal royal gifts from their beloved Queen, Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha yesterday.

In addition, 148 single mothers in Tutong also received personal royal gifts from Her Majesty.

They were among the 1,241 single mothers registered at the Community Development Department and Brunei Islamic Council throughout the country.

Present to hand over the royal gifts was Her Royal Highness Princess 'Azemah Ni'matul Bolkiah as a personal representative of Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha at a ceremony held at the Dewan Seri Kenangan, Tutong.

Upon arrival, Her Royal Highness Princess 'Azemah Ni'matul Bolkiah was greeted by Pehin Dato Seri Setia Awang Hj Suyoi bin Hj Osman, Minister of Development. Recipients arrived at the Dewan Seri Kenangan as early as 7am to register their names.

More than 3,000 people gathered for the very special occasion.

While waiting for Her Royal Highness, the crowd was treated to a mouth watering meal courtesy of the Istana Nurul Iman.

The families extended their most gracious thanks to Her Majesty, who continuously shows her care for the babies in the country. - Borneo Bulletin (8th November 2010)
