His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday consented to send a message of congratulations to Julia Gillard on the occasion of her appointment as the new Prime Minister of Australia.

In the message, His Majesty wished the premier much success in her new post and looked forward to working with her to strengthen the excellent relations and to continue the close regional cooperation enjoyed by the two countries.
