His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday consented to send a congratulatory message to Nicolas Sarkozy, President of the Republic of France on the occasion of La Fete Nationale, or the National Day of France.
In a press statement from the Office of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, His Majesty expressed his pleasure at the warm and friendly relations between the two countries.
His Majesty looks forward to continue working with the French President to strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the two countries, particularly through partnerships in the Asean-EU Dialogue and Asia-Europe Meeting.
The monarch also congratulated the Prime Minister of the Republic of France, Francois Fillon, as well as to the government and people of the Republic of France on the occasion of the National Day of France.
His Majesty expressed his appreciation for the long-standing friendly relations shared by the two countries and hoped that the friendship and goodwill shared by the people of the two countries would continue to be strengthened.
Meanwhile, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs & Trade, sent a similar congratulatory message to his French counterpart, Mr Bernard Kouchner, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of France.
In the message, HRH conveyed his great pleasure in sending his warmest congratulations and best wishes to Mr Kouchner and to the government and people of France on their National Day.
In a press statement that was issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade, HRH expressed that he was delighted with the excellent cooperation our countries continue to enjoy as very close friends over many years and wished the French community in Brunei Darussalam a very happy celebration.
