By Haji Abdul Latif Ms Jair

The tug-of-war finals to select Tutong's champions to represent the district at the national level in conjunction with His Majesty's 63rd birthday was held at the Muda Hashim Primary School's field. The guest of honour at the event was Tutong's District Officer, Awang Haji Idris bin Haji Ali.

Eighteen teams took part in the competition, which began a couple of weeks earlier. The championship was divided into three categories - Category A (light-weight), Category B (Heavyweight) and Category C (adolescents). Six teams competed on Sunday in the finals, two teams for each category.

Emerging as the champions for Category A was the Prisons Department, while Category B winners were the Penanjong Garrison team. Muda Hashim Secondary School came in first place for Category C. These teams will be representing the Tutong District in July 2009. This year's tug-of-war championship is being organised by the ABDB's land forces of the second battalion. - Borneo Bulletin (9th June 2009)
