Brunei's grand 25th National Day celebration

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday consented to attend Brunei Darussalam's Silver Jubilee National Day celebration at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.

Accompanying His Majesty to the momentous event were Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha, Her Royal Highness Pengiran Isteri Azrinaz Mazhar, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Her Royal Highness Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Hjh Zariah and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah.

His Royal Highness Prince Hj Abdul 'Azim, His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik, His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Mateen, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bulqiah, Her Royal Highness Princess Hjh Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah, Her Royal Highness Princess Azemah Ni'matul Bulqiah, Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bulqiah, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam and other members of the royal family were also present to witness the grand celebration.

After the inspection of the guard of honour and observing the march past, His Majesty witnessed the reading of the National Day oath by as many as 25 selected youths representing sections under various government departments, private sector, higher education institutions and associations.

The reading of the oath was led by Dr Mohd Munir Faridz bin Dato Paduka Awang Haji Metassan, a medical officer of the Internal Medical Department, RIPAS Hospital.

Divided into six segments, the flawless field performances were designed to reflect the theme of Brunei Darussalam's Silver Jubilee National Day celebration 'Kedewasaan Bernegara' of 'Maturity of the Nation'. - Borneo Bulletin (24rd Feb 2009)
