Sultan receives honorary titles

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was conferred an "Honorary Pilot Wing" and made an "Honorary Member of the Special Air Forces Corps of the Indonesian Air Force" by Indonesian President Dr Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at the Indonesian Air Force Headquarters in Cilangkap yesterday.

The honorary titles were given to His Majesty in recognition of the constructive and noble role played by the monarch in promoting closer bilateral ties.

His Majesty was given the titles during the monarch's 2nd day of State Visit to Indonesia after viewing the anti-terrorism capabilities of the Bravo Detachment 90 Special Force, TNI.

During the ceremony, the Indonesian president was also conferred an "Honorary Member of Special Air Forces Corps of the Indonesian Air Force" by the Indonesian Air Force Chief of Staff, Marshall Subandrio.

After the anti-terrorism demonstration and conferment of the honorary titles, His Majesty and President Yudhoyono proceeded to the auditorium to meet up with senior officials of the air force. Before leaving the headquarters, His Majesty was presented with a gift by the Air Force Chief of Staff. - Borneo Bulletin (24th April 2008)
