Sultan makes surprise visit to religious schools

Teachers and students of three religious institutions in Jalan Tutong were caught by surprise yesterday morning when His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam made an unscheduled visit.

His Majesty first visited the Raja Isteri Pg Anak Damit Arabic Girls Secondary School (SUAMPRIPAD) followed by the Hassanal Bolkiah Arabic Boys Secondary School, which is located across the road.

The monarch also visited the Seri Begawan Religious Teachers College University.

During the visit, the ruler took a closer look at the facilities of the schools and enquired how many male and female students were in each classroom.

The monarch also showed keen interest in the students' preperations for their upcoming examinations.

His Majesty also consented to have photos taken with teachers and students.

The ruler ended his visit with a closed-door briefing session with the staff of Seri Begawan Religious Teachers College University. (9th March 2007)
