Tutong 4WD Race Association holds endurance tournament

The 4WD Race Association of the Tutong District held an endurance race tournament in conjunction with the 61st Birthday Celebrations of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam at the open field near the Tutong District Mahad Islam Brunei.

Among the five categories in the tournament were the Sprint 4WD Open, Women's Open, Engine Capacity of 2000cc and below, Engine Capacity Above 2001cc and the Open Group.

Present as the guest of honour was the Acting Tutong District Officer, Awg Haji Jamain bin Momin, who presented the prizes to the winners. He was accompanied by his wife.

Under the Sprint 4WD Open category, Md Zaki bin Haji Jamahad grabbed first place while Awie and Haji Mohammad bin Haji Yampal came in second and third respectively.

In the Women's Open category, Nurul Huda binti Mahmud walked away with the first prize while Azizah binti Tarus and Hurhafizah binti Hamdan took the second and third place respectively.

Under the individual category for the engine capacity of 2000cc and below, Zulkipli bin Zainudin emerged as the champion while Haji Omarali and Haji Rosidi bin Haji Tabit came in second and third respectively.

Meanwhile, for the individual category B for engine capacity above 2001cc, first place was won by Md Zaki bin Haji Jamahad while the second and third place went to Haji Harun bin Haji Singgil and Haji Shamsul Arifin bin Haji Mansho respectively.

Lastly, for the Open Group category, the champion was the Harun team while the runner-up was the Binjai Team.

Also present at the event were the assistant district officer, senior government officer, penghulu-penghulu mukim and ketua-ketua kampong. - Borneo Bulletin (7th August 2007)
