His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday consented to present credentials to Brunei's three newly-appointed envoys and receive letters of appointment from three new foreign envoys, RTB reported.
The ceremony took place at the Istana Nurul Iman.
His Majesty first consented to present credentials to the newly-appointed High Commissioner-designate to the Republic of Singapore, Abdul Ghafar Ismail.
Abdul Ghafar Ismail has been the country's Ambassador to India since November 2001, and has also acted as Brunei's non-resident High Commissioner to Sri Lanka and Nepal.
His Majesty consented to present credentials to Brunei's newly-appointed Ambassador-designate to the People's Republic of China, Magdalene Chee Siong Too. She has been the country's High Commissioner to Canada, Brazil and Argentina since 2005, and was also Brunei's former Deputy High Commissioner to the United Kingdom in 2003.
His Majesty also consented to present credentials to the newly-appointed Ambassador-designate to Belgium, Pengiran Haji Alihashim bin Pengiran Haji Yussof.
Pengiran Haji Alihashim bin Pengiran Haji Yussof has been the Second Director of Politics at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade since October 2005.
At the same event, His Majesty consented to receive three newly-appointed envoys to Brunei Darussalam and their Letters of Appointment in separate audiences.
His Majesty first granted an audience to the new Ambassador of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Somdy Bounkhoum. Somdy Bounkhoum was the Permanent Secretary of the Committee for External Relations of the Central Committee Party since May 2007.
The new non-resident Ambassador of Egypt, Hani Abdel Kader Shash, was next to be granted an audience with His Majesty. Hani Abdel Kader Shash was the former Egyptian Ambassador to Manila and Belgrade and the country's Consul General to Kuwait.
His Majesty also granted an audience to the newly-appointed non-resident High Commissioner of Norway, Arild Braastad. He was the Ambassador of the Royal Norwegian Embassy to Malaysia since 2006.
